Data Center Inventory Specialist

The Data Center Inventory Specialist plays a crucial role in managing and maintaining the hardware and equipment within a data center. Their primary responsibilities include:
- Inventory Management:
- Collaborate closely with the financial team to conduct thorough monthly inventory counts, ensuring accurate tracking and management of data center assets.
- Conduct regular audits of inventory to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Monitor stock levels and initiate orders for necessary supplies and components.
- Receiving and Distribution:
- Receive incoming shipments, verify contents against purchase orders, and ensure proper documentation.
- Organize and distribute equipment and materials to appropriate teams or locations within the data center.
- Ensure accurate matching of received materials with corresponding invoices, and facilitate the prompt submission of verified invoices to the secretariat for timely processing.
- Maintenance and Repairs:
- Collaborate with technical teams to schedule and perform preventative maintenance on equipment.
- Assist in troubleshooting hardware issues and coordinate repairs as needed.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain detailed records of inventory transactions, including receipts, distributions, and equipment status.
- Prepare reports on inventory levels, usage trends, and equipment conditions for management review.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and standards in handling and storing equipment.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace to promote safety and efficiency.
- Ongoing Collaboration with Technical Procurement
- Maintain continuous communication with the technical procurement team to effectively coordinate the receipt and initial inspection of purchased items, ensuring seamless integration into inventory management processes.
Requirements
Educational Background
- A bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business administration, information technology, or a related field is preferred.
- Relevant certifications in inventory management or logistics (e.g., APICS, CIPS) are a plus.
Experience
- 2+ years of experience in inventory management, logistics, or a similar role, preferably within a data center or technology environment.
- Familiarity with data center operations and hardware components is highly desirable.
Technical & Analytical Skills
- Strong understanding of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel for data analysis and reporting.
- Ability to conduct thorough audits and analyze inventory data to identify trends and discrepancies.
- Strong problem-solving skills to troubleshoot hardware issues and coordinate repairs effectively.
Organizational & Communication Skills
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Attention to detail to ensure accuracy in inventory counts and documentation.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with financial teams, technical teams, and procurement staff.
- Ability to prepare clear and concise reports for management review.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
