Role Overview
The Data Center Operations & Facilities Manager at Sotoon is responsible for overseeing, maintaining, and ensuring the operational stability of all physical data center infrastructure. This role ensures that electrical, cooling, mechanical, and control systems operate safely, reliably, and in alignment with business operational requirements.
This position plays a critical role in ensuring the operability, maintainability, and operational stability of Sotoon’s data center assets.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee daily data center facilities operations, including:
- Power distribution systems, UPS, and generators
- Cooling and HVAC systems
- Mechanical, control, and monitoring infrastructure
- Ensure safe, reliable, and continuous operation of all facility systems in line with company standards
- Plan and oversee preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance activities
- Lead, coach, and develop technical teams, including technicians and site leads
- Work closely with data center engineering, network, IT, and hardware operations teams
- Manage vendors, contractors, and external service providers
- Monitor system health and manage site operational risks
- Ensure effective and timely response to incidents and operational excursions
- Ensure compliance with safety requirements, maintenance procedures, and internal standards
- Drive continuous improvement of operational and maintenance processes
- Control and optimize site operational costs
- Provide operational feedback to design teams to improve future data center designs
- Support site selection activities through operational and technical expertise
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders across all levels of the organization, including senior leadership
Requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, or Engineering Management) or equivalent practical experience
- Minimum 10 years of experience operating and maintaining mission-critical infrastructure
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a data center or similar industrial/commercial facilities environment
Hands-on experience with:
- Electrical power systems
- Mechanical and HVAC systems
- Control and monitoring systems
- Proven experience managing and developing technical teams
- Ability to forecast resource and capacity requirements based on operational needs
- Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills
- Ability to operate effectively in high-availability, fast-paced, and high-responsibility environments
